Dr. Galanis, a native of Milwaukee, completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin where he served as class president and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, a distinction only granted to the top 15% of medical school graduates. Upon completing medical school, Dr. Galanis matched to and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital – which was ranked the #1 hospital in the nation by US News and World Report for a record 21 years in a row. While a surgical resident, he was awarded a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct two years of clinical research at New York City’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center – the #1 ranked cancer center in the U.S. While at Johns Hopkins, he was also awarded Resident Teacher of the Year award as Chief Resident. After completing his general surgery training, Dr. Galanis pursued his interests and matched into UCLA’s highly competitive plastic and reconstructive surgery program. With diverse training throughout the Los Angeles area including private cosmetic practices in Beverly Hills, high volume county hospitals, and the US News and World Report #3 ranked UCLA Medical Center, the plastic surgery training program at UCLA is widely considered one of the finest training platforms in the country. Dr. Galanis stayed on for an additional year at UCLA as Microsurgery Fellow and Clinical Instructor, where he performed complex reconstruction with a high focus on breast and head and neck surgery. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has had his research presented at medical conferences.
Dr. Galanis recognizes that the decision to pursue plastic surgery and the decision on a particular surgeon can be scary and overwhelming undertakings. He considers it a privilege to assist patients in either restoring form or helping them achieve a particular look they desire. His training background in Los Angeles – considered by many to be an epicenter of plastic surgery – has afforded him the skill set to best assist his patients. Dr. Galanis believes in establishing a trusting and honest relationship with his patients before any decisions are made. He strives to fully understand his patient’s goals, design and clearly explain a custom tailored plan, and ultimately deliver beautiful results.
Although fully trained in all areas of plastic surgery, Dr. Galanis’ main areas of interest are non-invasive skin treatments, cosmetic surgery of the breast and body, and reconstructive surgery for breast and skin cancer.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][fancy_heading h1=”0″ icon=”icon-star”]Board Certified in Surgery
