WHAT IS NECK LIFT

Necklifts are same day (outpatient) surgeries. After arriving in one of our designated surgical centers, you will be placed under general anesthesia. To achieve optimal results, Dr. Epstein may utilize a variety of techniques during your surgery. The scope of your procedure depends on the condition of the treatment area and your aesthetic goals.

To begin the necklift (neck rhytidectomy), Dr. Epstein makes incisions in the natural crease around the ear and possibly within the hairline (depending on the severity of skin laxity.) He then repositions the underlying tissue. This may include tightening of the neck muscles, a procedure known as a platysmaplasty. He may also redistribute fat or perform liposuction through a small incision under the chin. He trims away excess tissue (cervicoplasty) and lifts the skin into a more youthful position before closing the incisions.

Necklift scarring is kept to a minimum by camouflaging the incisions in the natural folds and shadows of the ears, hairline, and chin.

Your necklift recovery depends on the scope of your procedure. Most patients return to work within 7 to 14 days. You may experience tightness, bruising, and swelling following the procedure, which typically subside in weeks.

Results are long-lasting but not permanent, as normal aging will continue after surgery. A necklift will take years off your appearance, but it cannot stop the aging process, and your results will gradually lessen with time. Nevertheless, most patients enjoy their rejuvenated look for many years.
