Restoring Facial Balance

When a nose is “out of balance” with its associated features, it can negatively impact how we see ourselves, lowering our confidence and diminishing our quality of life. At Concierge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, we are proud to have Dr. Michael Epstein on our team. He has over 30 years of experience helping people restore balance to their facial features and improving their self-image with his precision rhinoplasty procedures in Chicago. Dr. Epstein is a board-certified plastic surgeon who is the region’s leader in rhinoplasty surgeries, with patients traveling across the country to meet him.

What Can Rhinoplasty Address?

Rhinoplasty can improve the shape of a nose considered too big, misshapen, or crooked. In addition, rhinoplasty can potentially improve nasal function or reconstruct the nose following facial trauma.

Rhinoplasty can be accomplished with multiple approaches, including cartilage, bone, or soft tissue manipulation. By adjusting the nasal architecture, your surgery can also lead to improved breathing, especially in patients who have a deviated septum. Dr. Epstein uses precision methods to ensure the scars are often indiscernible, hidden in the shadow under the tip of the nose or within the nose itself. The location of the scar depends on the type of procedure performed.

What Are the Benefits of Rhinoplasty?

If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your nose, rhinoplasty with Dr. Epstein offers an effective solution.

Patients who have long felt embarrassed about their nose or are otherwise unhappy with its shape or size often find that nasal surgery helps improve their confidence and sense of self. Some of the potential benefits of a rhinoplasty are as follows:

  • Restoring facial harmony
  • Balancing facial features
  • Improving your facial profile
  • Enhancing nasal functionality
  • Reconstructing your nasal contour after trauma

Is Rhinoplasty Right for Me?

It’s natural to wonder if a procedure can meet your specific needs. Typically, people who elect to have a rhinoplasty in Chicago include the following:

  • Individuals who are unhappy with the size or shape of their nose
  • Those who have a nose that is too large or too small for their face
  • People who have a bump or hump on the bridge of their nose
  • Individuals with a crooked or asymmetrical nose
  • Those who have breathing problems due to a deviated septum or other structural issues in the nose
  • People who are generally healthy and have realistic expectations for the procedure

A Special Note About Nose Surgery for Teenagers

While such a procedure may improve a teenager’s self-esteem and self-perception, not all teenagers are good candidates for this cosmetic surgery, as they may still be growing. Peak growth is typically completed between the ages of 15 and 16 for young women and between the ages of 17 and 18 for young men.

Begin With a Consultation

At Concierge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, your rhinoplasty experience begins with a consultation with Dr. Michael Epstein. He usually sees patients at our Northbrook location, but a virtual initial consultation can often be done if necessary. This consultation presents an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get to know our approach to helping you meet your goals. Our experienced team evaluates your medical history and overall health. We provide information on rhinoplasty procedures, risks and benefits, and recovery.

Based on your information and goals, we will develop a personalized surgical plan. Since nasal surgery is customized to the facial structure and aesthetic goals of each patient, rhinoplasty costs vary per patient.

During your consultation at Concierge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, exact pricing will be discussed in detail, as will financing options and ways to save on rhinoplasty costs.

The Day of Your Procedure

Rhinoplasty is typically a same-day, outpatient surgery conducted in our accredited surgical facility. Patients are put under anesthesia by a board-certified anesthesiologist. The duration of the operation depends on the complexity of the procedure. Usually, a rhinoplasty takes somewhere between two to four hours to perform. After surgery, your nose will be covered with a splint, which will protect the new shape of your nose and reduce swelling. You can expect to wear the splint for the week following the surgery.

Recovery and Results

Patients will experience bruising and swelling for a few weeks after the procedure.

Patients typically feel comfortable returning to many of their usual activities, such as work or school, within about a week after their surgery.

As swelling fades and your nasal structure continues to heal, your nasal appearance will improve for up to a year after surgery. After your rhinoplasty, you can expect a more balanced and proportionate nose that complements your overall facial features.

Your nasal profile will be smoother and more symmetrical, and any structural issues causing breathing problems will be corrected, leading to improved breathing function. You can also expect a more aesthetically pleasing and natural-looking nose that enhances your overall appearance.
